Philadelphia, PA - The Brookdale Jersey Blues earned a stunning 73-71 win against the Division 1 Community College of Philadelphia Lions Tuesday night. With the win, the Jersey Blues improve their record to 15-9 overall, and 12-7 in conference play.
Things looked good for the Jersey Blues as they took as much of a 10 point lead at one point, then finishing the half with a 36-29 lead. Brookdale continued their lead in the second half until CC of Philadelphia retaliated with just four minutes left to game by taking a six point lead. Baskets were exchanged until the final seconds of the game and the Blues were able to pull out the win.
Sophomore forward Tyler Hawkins notched a team-high 26 points including the two clutch final baskets that won the game. A pair of other Brookdale players tallied for double figures as freshman guards Beyon Wilson and Dameire Fitch each racked up 11 points respectively. In addition, freshman Allen Ozojie contributed to the win with 10 rebounds and four blocks, while Sophomore guard David Colloway passed off five assists.
Brookdale will look to keep things rolling when they head to Cranford, NJ to challenge the 19-8 Union County College Owls on Thursday, February 13th @ 7pm.
