Lincroft, NJ- The Brookdale softball team topped the Cougars of Lehigh Carbon Community College, 8-2 and 11-3. Sophomore outfielder Megan Mego tallied an RBI triple in game two.
Freshman third baseman Veronica Woehr posted three hits including a two-run double while sophomore catcher Olivia Carbone collected two hits and one RBI. Freshman right-handed pitcher Rachel Hrevnak recorded her fifth win from the mound. Sophomore pitcher Lauren Coppinger contributed the save from the rubber.
In game two, the Jersey Blues trailed by three runs as sophomore left-fielder Taylor Mennie stepped up to the plate and hit a three-run double. Mennie also scored on the same play on a Cougar error to take the lead. Sophomore first baseman Bethany Evans notched a three-run triple and sophomore Danelle Lewis pitched for the win and allowed only one earned run.
The team improves their overall record to 10-5-1 and will return to action on Monday, April 3rd at home to face Lackawanna College for a DH starting at 3:30pm.
