Lincroft, NJ — The Brookdale Community College baseball team dropped a conference doubleheader at home to the Middlesex College Colts, falling 15-13 in a high-scoring opener before a 6-3 setback in game two.
Freshman shortstop Dawson Smail delivered a perfect 4-for-4 performance, driving in four key runs to keep Brookdale within striking distance throughout the contest. Sophomore right fielder Casey Gardiner added a strong 2-for-3 effort that included a double and two RBI, while freshman center fielder Ray Mulhern contributed two RBI of his own in the tightly contested loss.
The momentum proved harder to sustain in game two as Brookdale was limited offensively. Freshman left fielder Nicco Maribo provided a spark with an RBI double, and freshman catcher Ryan Adams added an RBI single, but the Colts maintained control to secure the sweep.
