Lincroft, NJ – The Brookdale Community College softball team dropped both ends of a challenging doubleheader against DII Mercer County Community College, falling 6-4 and 11-2 on their home field.
In game one, the Mustangs wasted no time taking control, plating four runs in the opening inning to put the Jersey Blues on their heels early. Despite the quick deficit, Brookdale showed resilience, battling back in the fifth and sixth innings to generate offense and close the gap.
Sophomore right fielder Emma Zazzarino sparked the comeback effort, going a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate and blasting a home run for two RBI. Sophomore third baseman Jadeyn Pavlik also contributed with an RBI single as the Blues chipped away at the lead. However, Brookdale was unable to complete the rally, coming up just short in the 6-4 loss.
In game two, the Jersey Blues looked to regain momentum with early power at the plate. Freshman catcher Alexa Cebulski delivered a strong performance, going 2-for-2 and ripping a home run, while freshman center fielder Sophia Lasater added another long ball to energize the offense.
Now 11-5 on the season, the Jersey Blues will look forward to facing the Middlesex College Colts at home on Saturday, March 28th, with first pitch scheduled for 12:00pm.
