Lincroft, NJ — The Brookdale Community College softball team delivered a strong showing at home, splitting a doubleheader against NJCAA ninth-ranked Suffolk County Community College in a competitive clash that highlighted both resilience and firepower.
In game one, the Jersey Blues edged the Sharks in a tightly contested 3-2 victory behind a dominant performance from sophomore pitcher Jules Hart. Hart controlled the tempo from the circle, striking out 10 batters across 7.0 innings to earn her seventh win of the season. She also contributed at the plate with a key RBI double. Additional run support came from sophomore third baseman Jadeyn Pavlik and freshman center fielder Sophia Lasater, each driving in a run to secure the narrow win.
The momentum shifted in game two as Suffolk capitalized on a pivotal third inning, erupting for seven runs that proved too much for Brookdale to overcome in a 14-6 loss. Despite the setback, the Jersey Blues continued to battle offensively. Freshman third baseman Isabella Graci led the charge, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Pavlik added two RBI of her own, while freshman catcher Alexa Cebulski chipped in with an RBI single.
Brookdale, now 14-6, looks ahead to play another NJCAA nationally ranked team, No. 10 Northampton Community College on Tuesday, March 31st, beginning at 3:30pm.
