Lincroft, NJ - Brookdale Community College women's basketball earned a strong conference victory as the Jersey Blues defeated the Sussex County Community College Skylanders, 63-51.
Freshman guard Laila Hagan led all scorers with 23 points while also making her presence felt defensively with seven steals. Fellow freshman guard Leomary Diaz-Merino continued her impressive play with 17 points, six steals, and five assists, fueling both the Jersey Blues' offense and transition game.
Brookdale Community College controlled the tempo throughout the contest, using defensive pressure and fast-break opportunities to build momentum and protect their lead down the stretch. The balanced effort and aggressive guard play proved to be the difference as the Jersey Blues pulled away in the second half.
With the win, Brookdale improves to 6-4 on the season. The Jersey Blues will return home to host the Rowan College of South Jersey - Gloucester Roadrunners on Thursday, December 11th, with tip-off set for 5:00 pm.
