Lincroft, NJ - Brookdale baseball delivered a commanding performance from start to finish, sweeping the Roxbury Community College Tigers in decisive fashion, 19-1 and 19-4, with both contests ending after five innings. The victories lift the Jersey Blues to an impressive 8-3 record on the season.
In the opener, Brookdale's offense wasted no time setting the tone. Freshman first baseman Thomas Diffley and sophomore right fielder Casey Gardniner each went 2-for-2 at the plate, both driving in two runs with doubles to ignite the early surge. Sophomore third baseman Anthony Pizzuti added to the offensive barrage with a two-RBI double of his own. On the mound, sophomore Jeffrey Barham controlled the game efficiently, earning the win and improving to 2-1 on the season.
The momentum carried seamlessly into game two, where the Jersey Blues lineup continued its relentless attack. Freshman third baseman Owen Parillo delivered a standout performance, going 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBI to lead the charge. Freshman shortstop Frank Kentoffio contributed a strong 3-for-4 effort with a double and an RBI, while freshman first baseman LJ Santiago went a perfect 2-for-2, adding another RBI to the tally.
Freshman pitcher Jack Kelly secured the win in game two, tossing 3.0 innings while allowing just one hit and striking out four batters in a sharp outing.
With the sweep, Brookdale showcased its depth, power, and consistency on both sides of the game. The Jersey Blues will look to carry this momentum on the road as they travel to face the Felician University JV Falcons on Wednesday, March 18th at 3:30 pm.
