Mays Landing, NJ - The Brookdale Jersey Blues delivered a commanding road performance, overpowering the Atlantic Cape Community College Buccaneers 13-3 to improve to 14-7 on the season.
A key moment came off the bat of freshman catcher Ryan Adams, who electrified the offense with a towering grand slam, breaking the game open and setting the tone for the Blues' explosive afternoon.
Brookdale's lineup stayed relentless from top to bottom. Freshman left fielder Nicco Maribo turned in a strong 3-for-4 performance at the plate, driving in a run and consistently applying pressure on the Buccaneers' defense. Freshman first baseman Thomas Diffley added to the surge with a triple that brought in another run, while freshman shortstop Dawson Smail laced an RBI double to keep the momentum rolling. Designated hitter Casey Gardiner also contributed with an RBI to round out the scoring attack.
On the mound, freshman Xavier Cortez earned his first win of the season, improving to 1-1. Cortez delivered a composed outing, throwing 5.0 innings and striking out five Buccaneers while keeping Atlantic Cape's offense in check.
Brookdale will return home to face Atlantic Cape once again on Wednesday, April 1st, with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
