Brookdale Strikes Early And Holds Strong Against Gloucester

Sewell, NJ - Brookdale baseball raced out to an early lead and never looked back, defeating the RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners 14-8 to improve to 30-8-1 on the season.

The Jersey Blues erupted for eight runs in the opening inning and continued to apply pressure by scoring in each of the first four innings. Freshman Dawson Smail delivered a huge performance at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, and five RBI to lead the offensive attack. Freshman catcher Ryan Adams also went deep, blasting a home run and driving in two runs. Sophomore third baseman Anthony Pizzuti added another strong outing, batting 3-for-6 with a double and two RBI.

Additional RBI hits came from sophomore right fielder Casey Gardiner, sophomore second baseman Ryan Tan, sophomore first baseman Thomas Diffley, and freshman center fielder Ray Mulhern as Brookdale's lineup stayed productive throughout the game.

Now 30-8-1 overall, the Jersey Blues will return home for their next matchup against the Montgomery County Community College Mustangs of Pennsylvania on Thursday, April 23rd at 3:30pm.
