Jersey Blues Battle With Roadrunners Into Winner Take All Finale
Camden, NJ - The No. 2 Brookdale Community College baseball team battled until the final out in a tightly contested NJCAA Region 19 Division III Tournament Championship game, falling 12-11 to the No. 1 seeded RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners.
Camden, NJ - The No. 2 Brookdale Community College baseball team battled until the final out in a tightly contested NJCAA Region 19 Division III Tournament Championship game, falling 12-11 to the No. 1 seeded RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners.
Sophomore third baseman Anthony Pizzuti led the Jersey Blues offense, going 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI. Sophomore right fielder Casey Gardiner also delivered a huge performance, batting 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
Sophomore center fielder Ray Mulhern added two hits and two RBI, while sophomore Gary Perone III powered a home run to help keep Brookdale within striking distance throughout the game.
Additional RBI came from sophomore second baseman Ryan Tan and freshman catcher Ryan Adams as the Jersey Blues continued to battle in the back-and-forth championship matchup.
With the loss, Brookdale moves into the second championship game against RCSJ-Gloucester to determine the Region 19 Champion. First pitch is set for 4:00pm at Rutgers University-Camden.
