Perone’s Big Swing Sparks Blowout As Blues Stay Sharp In Conference Play
Lincroft, NJ – The Brookdale Community College baseball team delivered an explosive offensive performance at home, defeating the Salem Community College Mighty Oaks, 21-5, to improve to 19-7 overall and 13-6 in conference play.
Lincroft, NJ – The Brookdale Community College baseball team delivered an explosive offensive performance at home, defeating the Salem Community College Mighty Oaks, 21-5, to improve to 19-7 overall and 13-6 in conference play.
The Jersey Blues wasted no time igniting the scoreboard as sophomore right fielder Gary Perone III highlighted the day with a towering grand slam, finishing with five RBI to lead the surge.
Freshman shortstop Dawson Smail played a major role in the win, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and a double while driving in four runs. Freshman catcher Ryan Adams added to the power display with a home run and a double for two RBI, while sophomore second baseman Ryan Tan contributed a two RBI double to keep the momentum rolling.
On the mound, sophomore TJ Legere (2-2) delivered a strong outing, tossing 6.0 innings while striking out 10 Mighty Oaks to earn the win.
Brookdale will look to carry its momentum into the next contest as the Jersey Blues remain at home to host the Mercer County Community College Mustangs on Wednesday, April 8th at 3:30pm.
