Brookdale Outlasts Oakton In Wild Battle
Johnson City, TN - The No. 5 seeded Brookdale Community College baseball team battled its way to a dramatic 15-14 victory over the No. 8 seeded Oakton College Owls in game two of the NJCAA Division III Baseball World Series at TVA Credit Union Ballpark.

Johnson City, TN - The No. 5 seeded Brookdale Community College baseball team battled its way to a dramatic 15-14 victory over the No. 8 seeded Oakton College Owls in game two of the NJCAA Division III Baseball World Series at TVA Credit Union Ballpark.
Sophomore pitcher Gary Perone III led the Jersey Blues offensively with a huge 3-for-3 performance that included a home run, a double, and five RBI. Freshman shortstop Dawson Smail added three RBI, including a home run, while sophomore catcher Ryan Adams went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, and three RBI.
Freshman first baseman Thomas Diffley contributed two RBI in his three plate appearances, including a double. Sophomore second baseman Ryan Tan crushed a home run, and sophomore third baseman Anthony Pizzuti added an RBI in the exciting victory.
On the mound, Perone also delivered for Brookdale, pitching 5.2 innings with five strikeouts and just one walk in the tightly contested win.
With the victory, the Jersey Blues stay alive in the World Series and will face the No. 2 seeded RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners on Monday at 12:45pm at TVA Credit Union Ballpark in Johnson City, Tennessee.
